Our Top Takeaways from NRF 2021: Day 3

Retail | News & Trends

Day 3 of NRF’s Big Show has been and gone already - time flies when you’re having fun!

We were treated to another round of fascinating and insightful discussions on the future of retail and how to learn from the difficulties the past year has thrown at the industry.

Here are our 3 key takeaways from Day 3:

💡 Operational excellence is the foundation that underpins the success of any company. And to achieve and maintain operational excellence, retailers need to be agile. That means finding more efficient processes that will allow you to turn on a dime whenever circumstances change unexpectedly - just as they did in 2020.

💡 Frontline employee mental health can no longer be ignored. Frontline retail workers have dealt with so much in the last year and their mental health is suffering as a result. An astonishing 80% of hourly employees don’t have benefits, but there are still plenty of ways to show your staff you care, such as providing them with apps designed to support their wellbeing.

💡 “The most effective technology is technology that nobody sees,” said Marvin Ellison, President and CEO of Lowe’s during his keynote session. The most innovative and crucial new ideas aren’t necessarily flashy - they work quietly behind the scenes to support your frontline employees and amplify what’s already great about retail.
