NRF’s Big Virtual Show got off to a great start on Tuesday, so we just knew Day 2 of the event would be even better. 

And we don’t know about you, but there’s something kind of nice about being able to watch all these amazing speakers do their thing while you’re at home wearing sweatpants and drinking coffee from an embarrassing novelty mug. Or is that just us? 

Here are our top takeaways from NRF 2021, Day 2: 

 

💡 Leveraging technology will be a deciding factor in whether or not your business thrives in the aftermath of the pandemic. From AI to machine learning to BYOD (bring your own device) models, there are so many tech innovations to take advantage of.

 

💡 One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that the advancements in the way consumers shop have been huge. Although COVID-19 has caused some major setbacks, it has also pushed the industry ahead by several years, as companies have been driven to change so much quicker than they otherwise would have, and trends that were already going to happen have been accelerated further.

 

💡 The pandemic has taught us a lot about how to improve retail processes, but it has also given us a greater sense of perspective. In business titan Indra Nooyi’s fascinating and insightful interview, she stressed the importance of recognizing the fine balance between lives and livelihood - in other words, looking beyond the bottom line and thinking instead about how you can provide your employees with a proper work/life balance.
